My Gmail Auction Closes

My Gmail auction on eBay closed last night. The invitation went for $41; there were 11 bidders. The winner represents a technology firm in Taiwan, who paid almost immediately via PayPal.

Today the market average for a Gmail invitation is $47, so my auction was pretty close to average.

More than 700 auctions for Gmail invitations have closed as of this morning; about 25% of those are cancelled auctions (usually because the seller realizes the opening price is too high or too low).

Lessons learned: 1) Never sell a "hot" item on a 7-day auction. 2.) If you can sell an invitation to a beta email service, is there anything you can't sell on eBay?
